argh..

Worked on the Antelope and the field of grass.
The last thing that have been haunting me the
whole time, the dress is not coming along.
It's driving me insane!

Robin Chicks

I looked out in the patio, and saw two Robin chicks
hanging around. They were playing all by themselves,
didn't see their parents around. So I chose this as an
opportunity and took a few shots of them up close.
I mean, really up close. Like a foot away from them.
(Granted I did have a glass door in front of me and
good thing I'm not a predator)
But they were sooooo cute.

Mainly worked on her dress. I think
I'm moving on to her face tomorrow.

50th post

Wow, I guess this is the 50th post almost is a row since
I started this blog. (I missed 2 posts regarding internet
issues)
Probably isn't that big of a deal, but since I was expecting
myself to be only able to update this daily for the first few
weeks.
Since my official page gets updated every 2 weeks to a
month, I hope this kind of helps having something updated
daily.

...OK, I'm getting irritated by all the infants (such a weird
design terminology), I'll post the progress of the day.

The background

Worked on the background (trees, grass, etc...)
Pretty comfortable with the way I render the trees,
still trying to figure out how I want render the grass.

Color study

Color in progress.
I wanted the back lighting effect, but it's interfering
with the paleness of the character's skin. Also wondering
whether to stylize the antelope a little more or keep it
realistic as it is now.

value study

Instead of working on my business card, spent my time
working on the illustration.

Hate coming up with titles

Spent most of my time today redesigning my business card.

And here's what I've got with the illustration.

graduation

Graduation ceremony is over, and I am officially graduated from
college. Overall, it was a nice ceremony. It's so weird to think
about the real world (as I am experiencing through intern).
I may not feel any change, but tomorrow when I wake up I'm not a
student anymore-- one of the professional Illustrator.

By the way, here's what I worked on today.

Chose the middle composition, and worked on the
anatomy of two figures.

For the show

A piece I'm working on for the show in June.

Tomorrow I have the graduation ceremony,
so there's a chance I won't be able to update
my blog.

Finished!

Finally finished the last of the commission pieces.

Completely changed the background.

Moving along

Finished the line drawing, started to lay down the
colors. I don't put any shadows or highlights for this
style, they're almost done. Just need to change the
background, because the gradation is disgusting me.

Finger hurts

Ha ha, my finger hurt, so only got a little progress on the
piece.

Not much progression today

It's a Friday, so after I got back from the intern,
chose to relax. Plus, my finger's aching from all
the exacto work I've doing the whole day. (I definitely
need a stronger hand.) Hence, the illustration hasn't
progressed much since yesterday.

Commission part 3 cont'd

Chose the composition, and worked on it a little on
Illustrator.

Since I transferred the file directly from Illustrator
to Photoshop (to create web resolution), the lines
are tangent to the edges. When finished, there will
be more space in between.

Commission03

The third part of the commission,
this is the kind of illustration I do
using Illustrator.

Phew

Not at my best condition, but managed to finish the illustration that
I started yesterday.

Pretty good result for a technique I'm not used to, and also with the flu.

Bleh..

Got a flu, minimal update today.

Part 2/3 of commission

Worked on thumbnails for the rest of the commission.
Now I'm trying to deal with the "sexiness" of the character.
Theme is dangerous seduction.

HP update

Updated one of the book cover illustrations, and reading
over the contents in my tutorial.

Weird lighting

Kind of playing with weird lighting.

Spring blossom

First, tutorial is at about 50% completeness.

I haven't been posting any illustration/ photography lately,
so today I took a photo of the tree in our front yard that
finally bloomed.

Web site update

Today worked on updating my web page and the tutorial as well.
Still have ways to go, the tutorial is coming along.

Why??

Why did I choose to have my site in two different languages?
I've been thinking about it every time I update it, and really
feeling it working on this illustration tutorial. It makes every
thing twice longer. I guess I need to suck it if I want jobs from
either country.
Sorry for ranting, guys.

Tutorial

I've been working to organize the files from the illustration
that I was working on for few days to create an illustration
tutorial. From rough to final, there was 47 files, 2.04GB total.
Just sorting them out was a pain.

Comission finished?

So I worked pretty diligently on the rest of the parts
of the illustration, and I think I'm finished with the
illustration.

An unfortunate thing happened today...
I started and was almost done with the face. Then for
whatever reason Painter chose to crash on me, and the
last save data+ recovery file made by Painter doesn't
want to open. Thankfully I've been saving every 15~20
minutes so I didn't lose too much, just disappointing.
Oh well, this IS the issue that I'll have to deal with
working digitally, and at least it isn't a piece that is
due in the next hour or something.

By the way, here's the progress so far.
