Today, worked on a commission from my
friend. It's a lot fun to draw stuff that I don't
regularly.

Exhibition final day

Exhibition final day, and it seems like more people
came in. Again, I was able to meet more people
and few sweet things that will be kept a "secret"
for the moment happened.

Tomorrow I have another interview for an internship,
and did a little fix for my portfolio, kind of a minor
change so I'll wait to post it on my web page.

Gallery opening

Today went to the opening for 09 graduate from
the Illustration department at the Academy.
It was tiring standing for 6 hours, but it was nice to
talk to people I haven't met, getting different
feed backs of my work.

DnD

So, I'm at my friend's apartment playing
DnD. Yes, DnD. ...And our party just
got annhilated by the evil friend of mine.

Moving from that, here's what I've worked on
on the train. Hopefully I could work on this
consistently and post them.

Cherry Blossom cont'd

Probably hard to tell the difference, but
tweaked her back anatomy and bit more
on the cherry blossom.

Fixing a old piece

...for a promotional piece of mine.
People tend to like my Holmes piece and some of my
"Ladybird" pieces, so I chose to use one of the Ladybird
paintings that compositionally best fit a CD label.
The only problem is, this version is the first one I did,
before the character design was solid. So it looks
nothing like the current design, and I'm fixing bits of
faces and small details to make it closer.

Lydia basic facial expressions

Today was just not the day for me to draw.
I couldn't hold a pencil until 21:00, and this
concept art I did doesn't "feel" like the character.
Hopefully tomorrow I'm back to normal.

Too much rain...

For me, two days of rain is too much.
I need more sun!! So, here's a photo
of a break in cloud and got to see something
other than a rain cloud.

Lydia's dress concept

Combining the dress concept dress for the previous post,
this should complete the first character.
Next, I may work on facial expressions...

Usually not incorporated in the illustration, but nice to
have when I create a 3D rendering of the character in
the future ^_^

Ladybird concept 01

The main character concept from my story, "Ladybird."

Cherry blossom

My cousin sent me a photo of a cherry blossom,
so tried doing an illustration/ doodling incorporating
it. Without seeing it in real life, it's really hard...

Bleh...

Kind of fell asleep working on my assignment...
I've still got work to do, so today's post will be
short, and is a photo I took in the morning.

Chirping of Angel

I did a little more tweaking on the layout design.

Ladybird title logo 01

As I was working on my concept art portfolio for my
original story "Ladybird," I finally chose to come up
with a title logo for the story.
So I spent roughly an hour choosing the type face
that fit.

Now time to come up with a logo/ design for the background,
and decide whether I want any effect on the type.

Mr. Vertigo

So for tomorrow's interview I've completed six new book covers.
One of them which was uploaded in my web page in the past, so
I made some revisions.
The older version:

Pretty bad.

In the newer version, I repainted the illustration and here it is:

Although I was in a rush so not fully happy with it, it looks a
loooot better than the older one. phew.

Continuing from yesterday

... here's where I am at with that dreadful book cover.

Looks better than yesterday, but still got a lot to work on.
Plus, the translation isn't... natural? I'm not the best at
translating stuff.

This just won't work out

Currently working on applying type to my illustrations
so they look like an actual book cover. I've managed
to get a few done today, but there's one that I am going
insane on.
Here's the illustration.


I've tried every font I have in my computer, and nothing
seems to fit the layout. Hopefully this pulls together by
tomorrow, or else I may have to skip this one and not
include it in my portfolio.

Back lit cloud

While driving home, I encountered one of my most favorite sky
scape. The beams of the sunlight are gorgeous; trying to find a
way to render this kind of sky.

Adler Planetarium Ad

This is one of the three ads I did for the new permanent exhibit
at the Adler Planetarium

The other ad will be uploaded to my web page .

I really wanted to use "Mario Jump" in the headline.
Half joking, and half actually serious, too. ha ha

Shirt fight contest

So I submitted a T shirt design at Shirt Fight (under the username "tetsuya").
The contest theme was subliminal message, so I chose the health problem
caused by junk foods.
Under the daylight, it's a tasty burger. But in the dark...?

Snow again...

It had to snow again. Well, I guess I'm using this as an
opportunity to take few reference photos of snow during
the Spring season.
